Today, I want to dive into something that hits home for many of us. So, pull up a chair, get comfortable, and let’s chat about a biggie: Are you in love with what you're doing, or is it all about the cash?
Now, don’t get me wrong. We all need those dollar bills to keep the lights on and our coffee cups full. But here's the kicker: when business becomes purely about the cash, it starts to show. And not in a good way.
People Can Smell Desperation
Picture this: your bank account is looking a bit sad, and the panic sets in. You start pitching your business like a door-to-door vacuum salesperson, unironed shirt, crooked necktie, and all. Funny visual, right? But oh so true. People can sense desperate attempts to make a buck from a mile away. And trust me, no one wants to feel like a walking dollar sign.
So, how do you shift your mindset and escape from the cash trap? Here are a few golden nuggets to help you fall back in love with your business:
1. Rediscover Your "Why"
Why did you start this business in the first place? What was your vision? Your mission? Jot down the reasons that had you jumping out of bed excited every morning. Dig deep and let those memories reignite your passion.
2. Focus on Providing Value
For me, nothing beats helping women and pouring out an overabundance of free value. When I shift my focus to genuinely making a difference, I forget about the money. The fun and fulfillment return in spades!
3. Journal Your Journey
Grab that journal and start jotting down your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Sometimes, simply getting it all out on paper provides clarity. It’s your personal roadmap back to what makes your business extraordinary.
4. Consider an Overhaul
Maybe what you need is a total business makeover! If things feel out of alignment, it might be time for a shake-up. Change can be invigorating and pave the way for a renewed love affair with your work.
5. Engage with Peers
Join our Facebook group and share your story. Whether you're thriving or just surviving, we're here to support each other. The best ideas often come from a random comment or story shared by a fellow business owner.
Remember, it’s completely normal to have moments where the love wavers. What’s important is recognizing when you're in that space and taking actionable steps to move through it. I would hate to see another amazing woman lose sight of her business baby and give up because of short-term financial stress.
